Debate Zones

Maiden Edition In consultative planning with Ghana Education Service GES, we plan to coordinate a debate tournament in each region. Schools from a wider geographical area and each region will be divided into Four Zones or four localities, where each zone will have six schools competing with each school participating with two debate teams competing with the other school. Ghana now constitutes 16 Administrative regions: Upper West, Upper East, Savannah, North East, Bono, Bono East, Northern, Oti, Ahafo, Volta, Western North, Eastern, Ashanti, Greater Accra, Western and the Central Region.

Geographical Area

The Northern Belt is made up of Five Regions;

Northern Region, Upper East Region, Upper West Region, North East Region, Savannah Region

The Southern Belt is made up of Five Regions and they are;

Western Region, Central Region, Volta Region, Western North Region, Oti Region

The Middle Belt is also made of Five Regions located in the middle part of Ghana and they are;

Ashanti Region, Eastern Region, Brong-Ahafo Region, Bono East Region and Ahafo Region.

As our final host of the National Tournament; is important to emphasize that although Greater Accra Region is part of Ghana’s coastal belt, but it hasn’t been added to the southern zone / belt on the basis that it host the national capital in addition to having different geographical and climatic conditions from the other regions along the coastline. Hence, Greater Accra will host the National Tournament of Championship “TOC” of the Advocacy Debate Grand Finale which will have affiliations with academia and legislature’s. This will offer a large, highly competitive contest to debaters from all the 16 Regions of Ghana.
